The forecasts are created by running the standard GFS weather data through a WRF forecast model which is customized to create blipmaps useful for soaring pilots, more information is on the RASP website.

The current blipmaps are a subset of the full RASP forecasts, help on the displayed blipmaps can be found by clicking on the ? button in the google map

The 3km grid is the standard RASP gliding forecast displayed on a google map. The detailed 0.6km daily forecasts are useful for paragliding.

The forecasts are run every evening using the 12Z00 GFS data and are updated in the morning. Currently the system is not in the cloud so reliability can be affected, please check the date on the blipmap headers to see if they are current.
